Five generations of families have come home to FaxonGillis. That's a legacy that we take very seriously. We have established a relationship of trust with the MidSouth community, and every day we work to strengthen it.
In 1899, Faxon Homes began building homes in Shelby County, Tennessee. We were building Memphis while W.C. Handy was writing "Memphis Blues." When Clarence Saunders opened his first Piggly Wiggly, his customers brought their groceries back to Faxon homes. From the opening act at the Orpheum Theatre to the founding of the FedEx Corporation, the history of our company is entwined with the history of Memphis. Over time, Faxon Homes became one of the largest, most respected home builders in the region, providing a solid new home value for hundreds of MidSouth families.
Gillis & Company, founded by Jerry Gillis in 1973, later emerged as another dominant force in the growing Memphis community. From a foundation of 10 homes in 1975, the company's sales revenue grew to $16.5 million, and 175 homes a year by 1985. In 1988, the Faxon Homes and Gillis & Company companies merged to become FaxonGillis Homes.
Today FaxonGillis builds world class homes in well located neighborhoods throughout the greater Memphis area and North Mississippi. FaxonGillis Homes has received numerous VESTA awards from the Memphis Home Builders Association for excellence in new home construction, and the ownership team of Jerry and Bobbi Gillis has been recognized for excellence in the home building and real estate industries.
