How long have you been in business?
The church began in 1954. The academy was founded in 1973. We originally were located in Memphis, near the intersection of Chelsea Extended and Graham Road.
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary product is a the Good News that Jesus Christ gives a life that is for now and eternally. Everything else is built on that foundation of truth.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became a follower of Jesus Christ when I was in elementary school. I originally pursued the vocation of Engineering. I worked for AT&T for over 10 years serving in various ways in my church. Eventually, my Master wanted me to leave that enjoyable career and enter into the ministry of pastoring.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I am grateful for all churches and school that are based on the good news of Jesus Christ. In no way to I feel superior to another ministry that is down the block. I know that we are submitted to follow His Word and make it the practice of our very lives. As a result, externally people see us as conservative in our lifestyle. However, internally, where it is most important, we do what we do out of love for God and for others.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We own 10 acres of property. Our school enrollment has grown. We are filling up the classrooms. We need to add some portable buildings soon.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are on the West side of North Houston Levee Road, between Walnut Grove and Macon Road. We are just about a half mile past Starbucks! :)
What type of payments do you accept?
At this time, we take only check or cash. We are pursuing direct deposit.
Which areas do you service?
We serve in Cordova. However, we have students who come from all over the Memphis area and as far out as Oakland, TN.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
The church is run by the membership of Heritage Baptist Church. They elect a pastor to be the leader. The pastor is accountable to a board of deacons.
What are your hours of operation?
The school operates normal school hours. The church has its normal Sunday services and Wednesday night. Of course there are activities for the church at many different hours.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"I see Christ in you."
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Galatians 2:20 is my life verse. "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh (body), I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
